The Agriculture Innovation Center (AgIC), formed in 2005 as part of Governor Sonny Perdue's Strategic Industry program, is one of six of Georgia's Innovation Centers Agriculture, Aerospace, Logistics, Life Sciences, Manufacturing and Information Technology. The center serves as a resource conduit for new and existing agriculture-focused businesses.
Agribusiness is Georgia's number one industry; our center provides direct assistance to start up and existing agribusiness companies. Our bottom line goals are to help agribusiness thrive and foster economic development, primarily in rural Georgia.
Our team understands the issues associated with innovation and entrepreneurial development. Staff members include seasoned veterans in the agribusiness industry; people able to provide direct insight into agribusiness development in Georgia. Our staff connects companies with a vast number of resources including: access to university level research and technology, business management services, business plan development, connections to industry leaders and state agencies, patent application and intellectual property guidance and more.
Pioneering companies also benefit from access to our on-site 10,000 square foot business incubator that includes laboratory and office space on the University of Georgia's Tifton Campus. Located right next door is the Nationally Environmentally Sound Protection Agriculture Laboratory (NESPAL), where world-class agricultural research is conducted daily. Additionally, we nurture non-resident companies and individual entrepreneurs with our "Incubator Without Walls" program; these companies receive technical expertise and coaching from our project managers and an entrepreneur outreach specialist.
